6/25/2026: "oops hi lol"

oops... been a minute lollll

I've been hard at work on another site called "Church in the Woods" (linked in Shrines), inspired by vibey point-and-click neocities like myrrh, over the sea, KD Kemp, and of course the monastery of st. blamensir. i've learned a lot working on it and it's so funny coming back here to my very first website attempt and seeing how much i've already grown. I think a time will come for spiffing up this site, but for now I kind of like it as a very simple snapshot of my first instincts as a web designer (if you could call me that lol).

I recently rediscovered vlogbrothers and the nostalgia is absolutely wild. I was obsessed with them in middle school. Hank Green at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland was my first concert. I drew fan art of him and John singing the "Bat People" song and made it into a paper airpolane that I threw onstage, and he posted it on his Instagram that night. It was an absolutely magical first concert experience. I had a DFTBA hoodie that I wore til the design started fading. I wonder it it's still in storage.

Vlogbrothers is a true early internet time capsule- I found a playlist that orders all their videos from oldest to newest, and I picked a random starting point, and they're talking about voting for OBAMA. For reference, I was in... first grade? Is that right? I just used a school year calculator to confirm that cause it sounded wrong to me. I can remember watching the inauguration in class, but I feel like I picture my 2nd-grade classroom? But I guess one classroom looks like another. If I picture it in the 1st grade classroom it still feels right. In any case: I was very very young.

and the video quality and sense of humor and constant slight static buzz noise. it's all oh so 2000's. it feels so warm and homey, while at the same time, especially when they talk politics, like an alternate timeline. there was seriously so much hope. i hope we can get back there.

but enough waxing poetic!!! i'm excited about the album i'm working on. i'm doing vocals right now and last night my partner helped me take some album cover pics. I've got two really good options I'm torn between, but that's a good spot to be in when the other option is no good options LOL.
